Fix the Community Region Line Flaws
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
INITIATIVE FILED TO AMEND COMMUNITY REGION LINES IN EL DORADO COUNTY
Placerville, California (January 23, 2013)
In response to repeated requests by the public to the Board of Supervisors to amend Community Region Lines in the county, the Shingle Springs Community Alliance (SSCA) has filed an initiative that will assist the Board in amending those lines throughout El Dorado County. This initiative was referred to in the SSCA presentation to the Board of Supervisors on January 14, 2014.
Community Region Lines are urban limit lines that make the area within the line a target for high-density development. The Community Region Line (CRL) Initiative removes the Community Region Lines from Camino, Pollock Pines, Cedar Grove, Shingle Springs, and parts of Green Valley Road, so that those areas are not a target for high density development. The Board has indicated in public meetings that it agrees that the lines should be amended, but that the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) process is lengthy and expensive. The initiative process will save the county from the cost and delays of an EIR.
SSCA anticipates working with community groups throughout the county to gather the signatures required to put the initiative on the ballot. Detailed information will be available soon on the SSCA website at www.ShingleSpringsCommunityAllilance.com
