Dear Shingle Springs Residents and Rural Lifestyle Supporters,
The ARCO gas station project at Durock Road and South Shingle Road was APPROVED with restrictions on a 3-2 vote during the Planning Commission hearing held on November 12, 2025. The restrictions had to do with not allowing the car wash to operate until planned road improvements are completed (realignment of Durock Road and freeway ramp modifications; possibly 2030).
The Shingle Springs Community Alliance (SSCA) intends to appeal the decision to the Board of Supervisors. The Board of Supervisors would then deliver the final decision, voting to either approve or deny the project. It is SSCA’s position that the ARCO station or any other business on that property should not begin construction until after the road improvements are completed to relieve the significant traffic congestion that we are all dealing with.
The appeal hearing would likely occur sometime in January. We’ll follow-up with an email once that hearing is scheduled.
And THANK YOU to all those who submitted emails/letters and who spoke at the Planning Commission hearing. Those efforts still matter for the appeal hearing.
Team SSCA on behalf of the
