Community Design Standards BOS Vote onTuesday

Dear Shingle Springs residents and rural lifestyle supporters,

This Tuesday, July 23, at 330 Fair Lane, Building A in Placerville, the Board of Supervisors will be voting to approve a contract for a consulting firm to resume work on our Community Design Standards. The vote will occur during the Consent Calendar which is set to begin at 9:00am. The item is number 19 on the Consent Calendar. We are excited to see this project starting up again!

As background, the Community Design Standards will apply only to new construction (and possibly to significant remodels) of commercial and multi-family residential buildings in the “downtown core” area of Shingle Springs, basically centered around Motherlode Drive and likely a part of Durock Road, along with nearby streets. They will not apply to single family homes, or any structure outside the downtown core area. More information is found here:

The Shingle Springs Community Alliance began work on the Community Design Standards more than 10 years ago, having held community meetings in 2013 and presenting the findings of our community input to the Board of Supervisors in January 2014. It wasn’t until 2020 that the first public meeting (with Community Advisory Team members) was held by the County. Shortly thereafter that consultant halted work on the project and the County identified a replacement contractor. The contract for the replacement contractor will be voted on by the Board of Supervisors this Tuesday morning.

We encourage those interested to attend the BOS meeting Tuesday morning at 9:00am to voice support for hiring the contractor to resume work on this important project!

Concerned community members should question this and provide feedback to County leaders.  You can do this by attending BOS meetings, public hearings, and emailing your supervisor at:
