Dear Shingle Springs Residents and Rural Lifestyle Supporters,
The ARCO gas station project at Durock Road and South Shingle Road will be in front of the Planning Commission on Wednesday, November 12 at 9:00AM. The hearing will result in the project being either approved or denied.
This will be the last opportunity for members of the public to submit comments to the Planning Commission before they make their decision. The meeting agenda and supporting documents can be found here: County of El Dorado - File #: 25-1835 https://eldorado.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=7721984&GUID=697B0649-C976-45C9-B438-1FFBA2A7709A
Adding another gas station in this area will impact our community in multiple ways, including adding to the already impacted traffic conditions at and near this intersection. When exiting the gas station onto South Shingle Road, only a right-hand turn will be allowed, meaning traffic will be routed down to Sunset Lane to access Mother Lode Drive to return to the freeway. Alternatively, vehicles can also exit onto Durock Road to return to the freeway; however we know how backed up that intersection is when trying to make a left hand turn onto South Shingle Road at the 76 gas station, especially in the afternoon.
We encourage members of the community who wish to have their voice heard to submit a letter or email before November 12 to the Clerk of the Planning Commission at planning@edcgov.us. Even better, consider attending the meeting to make your comments in person. Saying a few words in person in front of the Planning Commissioners carries a lot of weight.
Thank you for supporting our rural lifestyle!
