Action Alert - Upcoming Meetings and San Stino NOP

Dear Shingle Springs Residents and Supporters,

We have lots of new information to share with you. It is listed here so that you may take action.

1. San Stino Contract for Environmental Impact Report (EIR)

On Tuesday, February 26th the Board of Supervisors will be voting to approve the contract between the county and developer of San Stino to start the EIR process. The developer is spending $318,335.00 to move forward with this EIR. Here’s the agenda item:

19. 13-0139 Development Services recommending the Board consider the following:

1) Authorize the Chair to sign Funding Agreement No. 384-F1311

between the County of El Dorado and San Stino L.P. to provide funding

for preparation of an Environmental Impact Report for the San Stino

development project;

2) Authorize the Chair to sign Agreement for Services No. 383-S1311

with LSA Associates for a term of two years in an amount not-to-exceed

$318,335;

3) Make findings in accordance with Chapter 3.13, Section 3.13.030 of

the county ordinance that it is more economical and feasible to engage

an independent contractor for the preparation of an Environmental

Impact Report for the San Stino development project; and

4) Authorize the Chair to sign a budget transfer to appropriate revenue

and expenditures associated with the Agreement (4/5 vote required).

This is an important meeting! It is the first opportunity that you as the public have to officially let the developer know how you feel about the density of this project and the impact it will have on the rural life style of Shingle Springs. It’s time to let the developer know of the opposition before they move ahead and spend this money!(Sorry about the late notice but the County just posted this).

2. San Stino Notice of Preparation (NOP)

Also, the San Stino development Notice of Preparation was posted yesterday on the County website. The NOP describes the project and what they will be studying for the Environmental Impact Report.

3. Community Meeting to explain NOP

SSCA and NO SAN STINO will be holding a community meeting during the week of March 11 to update everyone on the project and also explain how to comment on a NOP. The exact time and location will be determined very soon and we will let you know.

4. San Stino Scoping Meeting

And finally, according to the NOP, a public scoping meeting will be held on March 21, 5:30 pm at the Shingle Springs Community Center to discuss the project with the community. Please mark your calendar to attend that as well.
