Dear Shingle Springs Residents and Rural Lifestyle Supporters,
We wanted to make you aware of two County meetings taking place next week regarding important topics for Shingle Springs community members.
Board of Supervisors Final Approval of Community Design Standards
Next Tuesday at 1pm, the Board of Supervisors will consider final approval of the Community Design Standards for the downtown core area of Shingle Springs. As a reminder, this project will create building design standards for new commercial, mixed use and multi-family residential buildings in the downtown core area of Shingle Springs. This does not impact single family homes or buildings outside of the downtown core area.
This is an important project because as residents we want to have a say in how newly constructed buildings look in our downtown core area. The Shingle Springs Community Alliance first embarked on advocacy to create design standards for our community in 2013. The proposed design standards are the culmination of input provided by Shingle Springs community members over several years, including at public workshops held in Shingle Springs last summer. They were unanimously supported by the Planning Commission on December 11.
We strongly support the approval of the proposed standards. Please plan to attend the meeting or submit a comment in support to EDC.COB@EDCGOV.US by 4pm Monday 3/2. The meeting will be held in the Board’s meeting room at 330 Fair Lane in Placerville.
Ponderosa Road Sidewalk and Bike Lane Meeting
On Wednesday evening March 4, the Department of Transportation will be holding an informational meeting regarding the upcoming project to provide a sidewalk and bike lane along the east side of Ponderosa Road south of the high school. The meeting will take place at 6pm at the El Dorado County Probation Meeting Room located at 3974 Durock Road, Suite 205, in Shingle Springs. The meeting will also be available via Microsoft Teams. Please see the flier for additional information here:
We hope to see you at these important meetings!
