Update on 1-2-3 Petitions as a result of 7-29-14 Board Meeting

Post date: Jul 31, 2014 3:01:17 AM

Greetings Shingle Springs residents and El Dorado County lifestyle supporters,

Here is the latest update on the 1-2-3 petitions.

1. The Community Region Lines (green) petition's signatures were certified by the Elections Department and received by the Board of Supervisors on 7/29/14. The BOS decided to put the initiative on the November 2014 ballot.

2. The Reinstate Measure Y (yellow) petition's signatures were certified by the Elections Department and received by the BOS on 7/29/14. Despite assurances on May 13th and June 10th that they would not order a 30-day report on our initiatives, the BOS decided to order a 30-day report on the economic impact of the initiative. Because of the 30-day report, the initiative will not make the cut-off for this year, so it will be on the November 2016 ballot.

3. The Retain Zoning/Preserve Resources (purple) petition is still a few hundred signatures short from qualifying to be on a ballot. If we can get a few hundred more signatures by September 9, 2014, then we will take the signatures to the Elections Department and get it on the November 2016 ballot.

A more detailed summary of the 7/29/14 BOS meeting will be sent out in the next few days.

Thank you for all your hard work and perseverance to get these initiatives on the ballot.
