Dear Shingle Springs residents and rural lifestyle supporters:
The County is planning to enlarge the Ponderosa Road / Highway 50 interchange. Durock Road, North Shingle Road and Wild Chaparral Drive are to be realigned in the area near the interchange. We are unsure about the planned schedule. CalTrans states that one of the reasons for the enlargement is to "provide for future traffic growth at this interchange projected to occur from planned regional growth." While alleviating traffic and accommodating pedestrian traffic on the overpass would be welcomed, one concern is that the project could allow large development projects to go forward, such as San Stino’s Mill Creek development, or a large regional box store at the Ponderosa Road / North Shingle intersection.
The County is holding an informational workshop meeting on Thursday, February 15, at 6:30pm - 7:30pm in Building "C", 2850 Fairlane Court in Placerville. Please attend the meeting if you would like to learn more about the project.
