Dear Shingle Springs Residents and Rural Lifestyle Supporters,
Our appeal of the Planning Commission’s approval of the ARCO gas station project at Durock Road and South Shingle Road will be heard by the Board of Supervisors next Tuesday, February 3 at 1:00 PM. The meeting will take place in the Board’s meeting room at 330 Fair Lane, Placerville, CA.
It is SSCA’s position that the ARCO station or any other business on that property should not be permitted at least until after road improvements are completed to relieve the significant traffic congestion that we are all dealing with. This is our chance to send a clear message to the Board that we expect them to put community safety first and deny this project which would significantly worsen an already dangerous situation at the Highway 50/Ponderosa Road interchange.
The Board of Supervisors is the final decision-making body, so please plan to attend this meeting. In-person attendance is best so that the Board can see you; however, you may also provide public comments via Zoom. For more information on providing comments via Zoom, see the Board's agenda here: https://eldorado.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1350894&GUID=C96D35D1-F233-4B7D-BE6F-2A1137FE27A3.
Whether you attend in person or via Zoom, you will have three minutes to provide comments to the Board. The most impactful comments will be those that convey to the Board how the traffic situation impacts you personally. Share what you have witnessed, as well as how a new gas station on the corner of Durock and South Shingle would worsen your experience.
If you cannot attend either in person or via Zoom on February 3rd, you can also submit written comments to the Board by e-mail at EDC.COB@EDCGOV.US. E-mailed comments are also an opportunity to provide expanded comments or images to the Board in addition to your comments at the meeting. To ensure that the Board has an opportunity to review your comments prior to the meeting, please send them no later than 4:00 PM on Monday, February 2.
Thank you for speaking up in support of our community!
