Dear RCU friends and supporters-

When El Dorado County’s General Plan was adopted in 2004, it significantly increased development in the county. But it also included policies to protect our water resources, open space, traffic and more, against the impacts of that new development. In 2015, the zoning ordinance was modified and hacked to further allow increased development without implementing the intended protections for county residents. These changes to the Zoning Ordinance in 2015 via the TGPA/ZOU now face legal action from RCU.

On April 25th, 2018, Judge Stracener will hear the case brought by Rural Communities United against the county, alleging the violations of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Those violations will allow many new policies to chip away at our quality of life until we are no longer the rural county promised by our General Plan. Our hope is to get a ruling that will restore the zoning of the 2004 General Plan and require those protections be completed before further increasing the county’s already generous development potential.

RCU still needs funding for trial costs and to pay our attorney for this enormous undertaking. Please spread the word to those you know to donate what they can and attend the public hearing if they wish.

The case will be heard Wednesday April 25th, 8:30 am at the El Dorado County Superior Court hearing room, 3321 Cameron Park Dr.
