Recap of 2/25/14 Board of Supervisors meeting - Sign our petitions

Post date: Feb 28, 2014 4:12:12 PM

Dear Shingle Springs residents and rural lifestyle supporters,

Thank you to everyone that attended the Board meeting on February 25th. Your presence and comments remind the supervisors that we are not going to back down in our battle to keep Shingle Springs rural.

The Board decided to move ahead with their Targeted General Plan Amendment and Zoning Ordinance Update (TGPA-ZOU) and study the Community Region Lines separately. This was not a desired result for two reasons: 1) The TGPA-ZOU is an overhaul of the General Plan that will encourage high density development; 2) Starting to study the CRLs now could mean months if not years of study before any action is taken to change any CRLs within the County.

These results mean that our county-wide initiatives are the best way for us to take back local voter control of our county's future. Shingle Springs Community Alliance (SSCA) has joined forces with Save Our County (SOC) and Residents Involved in Positive Planning (RIPP) to gather signatures on 3 petitions to put initiatives on the ballot this November. Two of the petitions are already out for signature and the third one will be ready soon.

If you would like to host a petition signing party in your neighborhood, go ahead and start planning it for mid-March and we will have our petitions ready and get them to you. Call Shelley Wiley to set up the date/time/place at 530-306-2329. What a great excuse to have a party!

We need help with manning our tables at signature gathering locations, such as Pete's near the EDH movie theater, Safeway in Cameron Park, Gold Harvest Market in Shingle Springs, and more. Please call Shelley if you have a couple hours that you can give us to help out.
