Action Alert! San Stino and other high density developments on 3-18-14 BOS agenda

Post date: Mar 18, 2014 2:43:20 AM

Dear Shingle Springs residents and rural lifestyle supporters,

On Tuesday, March 18th, our Supervisors will be voting on whether or not to proceed with Development Agreements for Dixon Ranch, Central EDH, Marble Valley/Lime Rock Valley, andSan Stino. Click here to see the full text of the agenda item: https://eldorado.legistar.com/ViewReport.ashx?M=R&N=Text&GID=57&ID=1638755&GUID=CE3E797E-5B58-49D6-AEF7-F4077642BCC8&Title=Legislation+Text

Development Agreements (DAs) are voluntary contracts often requested by developers so that approved projects will be immune to changes in regulations, such as zoning changes or changes that may result from our initiatives.

The public has said they do not want these large subdivisions, and our infrastructure for traffic and water are at capacity. The community is circulating ballot initiatives to stop these projects. Staff time should not be spent for the benefit of developers on projects that are opposed by the public. Instead, staff time should be spent on projects benefiting residents, such as changing community region lines and the sign ordinance.

Attend the meeting, if you are available:

Tuesday, March 18, 2014, approximately 10:00am (it is the 3rd item on the agenda)

Building A 330 Fair Lane, Placerville, CA

If you cannot attend the meeting, please write our Supervisors, asking them NOT to enter into DA negotiations prematurely. Have them focus staff on issues that benefit the greater public in this county, not just a few developers that may or may not live within our borders. (Contact info and sample 'starter' email below).

Note: If you are interested in joining the signature gathering effort for the initiatives, please contact us, or visit the Local Voter Control website at www.LVC-EDC.org
